About Us...

Mary Hughes-Behuniak has made thousands of wedding cakes over 30 years. She has been the exclusive pastry chef for Mahan’s Catering facilities for 20 of those years.  Mary’s daughter-in-law, Michele Hughes, came on board in 2000.  Mary’s son, Ed Hughes joined the Elegant Cake team in 2007 carrying on the family career to a third generation.

Ed is an artist and totally enjoys the challenge of creating unique fondant cakes for customers. We make cakes for all occasions. Wedding cakes, grooms cakes, birthday cakes, and any novelty cake you can dream up. In one short year Ed has opened his own bakery in Naugatuck Connecticut.
